The essential tool for a fast and effective estimation perfect for scrum or kanban planning processes. A typical deck of Planning Poker cards has several cards that are rarely used. Our Estimation Poker cards show story points numbers from the Fibonacci sequence up to 21, this means you get sets for six players, not just four.

Estimation Poker (also known as "Planning Poker") creates a numerical estimate of complexity for a feature. More complex features are given a higher number of “story points”. The numbers are meaningful only in relative terms.

Over time, teams working on pointed stories will develop their own ratio of points to time. This "velocity" is your team's essential metric for planning and forecasting.

How to play estimation poker?

Players talk over a feature and might make a list of tasks needed to complete it. Simultaneously, they share a numbered card with their chosen number of points. The players with the highest and lowest estimates compare their reasons for seeing the feature differently. Examples of previous features can be used for guidance. The process is repeated until there is consensus on an estimate, which is then recorded, and the next feature is considered.

More detailed instructions and background is available in our estimation games guide.

About our product

Our packs include six sets of poker cards so your whole agile team can simultaneously assign story points to a story. This gently forces estimators to think independently.

Our cards are illustrated with images of progressively more complex machines, skateboards, cycles, and hoverbikes! This reminds your team that the factor most that influences delivery speed is the complexity involved in each piece of work.

Key features:

  • Each pack contains 6 sets for 6 estimators to each hold cards with values following the Fibonacci series: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, ?. (6 complete sets in each box)
  • Includes the most used values from the Fibonacci sequence and a coffee break card - for when it all gets a bit much!
  • Simple illustrations hint at a possible meaning for each card, without limiting teams to any specifics.
  • The cards are printed on 330gsm playing card board and come packed in a box
  • Card size: 86 mm x 62 mm
